What Is Wet Rot?

Wet rot is a term used to describe certain types of fungi that can attack timber. The kinds of fungi that can cause wet rot are typically brown and white rot fungi. Of the two, brown rot fungus is the most common. Its proper name is Coniophora puteana. This kind of rot is caused by timber being exposed to water.
